SUMMARY: The Host/Hostess position is responsible for all guest communication, including general inquiries, Cleaned Menus and walk-up reservations. All Hosts/Hostesses are required to smile and offer a warm farewell and thank our guests for dining at the restaurant. The Host/Hostess will welcome all of our guests, check for reservations if necessary and escort guests to their tables. Must be an ambassador of excellent customer service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Includes but not limited to the following) Provide friendly, fast, and helpful customer service, through the consistent practice and delivery of our vision of treating our guests and each other with kindness, dignity and respect Acknowledge guests immediately with a smile. Properly offer a warm friendly verbal greeting to Greets and seats guest by their name when known and makes them feel welcome and special. Assist guests with chairs and napkins during seating. Introduce Server name to guest and educate the guest on any specials Answer telephones using proper phone etiquette. Take to-go orders and coordinates execution of to go orders. Including input in the POS system, packaging the food and collecting payment Creates and executes celebration elements for guests when applicable. Properly rotate server stations when seating guests. Maintains clean and organized host/hostess area. Make sure all areas are clean and free of debris. Acts as a role model to other employees and always presents self as a credit to San Pablo Lytton Casino and encourages others to do the same. Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies. Must have knowledge of current property events, promotions, and attractions. Conforms to standard uniform and dress code and displays all the appearance standards in the policy and procedure document. Staff is well groomed, attired in clean, crisp, well-maintained uniforms with proper fitting Arrives to work station and begins pre-opening checklist. Responsible for menu cleanliness and inspects all food and beverage menus for stains, bent pages, and complete pages. Checks with the Manager on duty to review reservations if necessary and understand the number of stations that will be in use for the shift. Provide real time communication to floor management on walk in volume and VIP customers. Candidates are required to attend all pre shift meetings so that they are educated on property wide events and promotional events within The Broiler Restaurant. All Host/Hostesses are trained to describe in detail the preparation methods and ingredients associated with any item on the menu. Explain menu highlights and promote specials to guests at the door. Host/Hostess will be required to attend all training session and vendor tastings. Host/Hostesses are required to learn and follow all steps of service when necessary. Host/Hostesses are required to assist with furniture alignment in the restaurant, monitor the floor cleanliness. As necessary the Host/Hostess will use a carpet sweeper to tidy up any of the carpeted areas in the dining room. Candidates will keep their working space (podium) in proper order with clean and tidy sight lines. Prepare daily side work list assigning servers for specific tasks. Perform any other tasks as assigned by management QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of restaurant operations, to include appropriate staffing levels, service equipment and customer relations. Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items. Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system. Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstration empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions. Ability to move through a crowded room to seat customers, stand/walk continuously perform essential job functions throughout shift. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school education preferred. Minimum of one year experience in a high-volume restaurant operation. Two to three years cold and hot kitchen/pantry in a high-volume restaurant facility. Culinary and Apprenticeship program preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, caution and safety notices. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other team members of the organization. Ability to read, write and speak the English language in order to complete requisitions read recipes and communicate with other team members. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates. Example: CPR Certification and/or First Aid training. Must obtain an RBS training certification within 60 days of employment. The passage of Assembly Bills 1221 in 2017 and 82 in 2020, effective July 1, 2022, dictates any alcoholic beverage server must have a valid responsible beverage service (RBS) certification within 60 days from their first date of employment. To become certified, you must complete RBS training from an ABC-accredited RBS training provider and pass an ABC-administered RBS exam. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The team member frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds through a crowded room and move or push a hand car/truck weighing a maximum of 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The team member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Should be able to adapt well to the casino environment, involving large numbers of people, loud and continuous high noise level. Must also be able to psychologically handle the concepts of persons occupying an establishment for the purposes of gambling, drinking, and eating for long periods of time.
