Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to help launch an exciting new chef-driven fine dining restaurant opening this fall. This key culinary leadership role will begin with several weeks of training at an established location in Denver before transitioning to Charlotte for the restaurant opening.
The Executive Sous Chef will partner closely with the Executive Chef to oversee all Back-of-House operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, operational efficiency, and an outstanding guest experience. The ideal candidate thrives in high-volume fine dining environments and is passionate about culinary excellence, team development, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in leading all daily Back-of-House operations, ensuring consistent food quality and presentation.
- Support menu execution, recipe adherence, and culinary innovation.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop sous chefs, line cooks, and prep staff.
- Manage food cost, labor, inventory, purchasing, and waste control.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Collaborate with Front-of-House leadership to deliver seamless service.
- Oversee banquet, private dining, and special event culinary execution.
- Maintain kitchen organization and operational excellence during peak service periods.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of Executive Sous Chef or Sous Chef leadership experience in a high-volume fine dining restaurant.
- Strong background in upscale steakhouse, seafood, or modern American chef-driven concepts.
- Proven leadership and team development skills.
- Experience managing food cost, labor, inventory, and kitchen operations.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to train in Denver for several weeks prior to the Charlotte opening.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
