ABOUT THE JOB

The Franciscan Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe is seeking a dependable, caring and reliable cook who will prepare nutritious meals for 25 religious men living in a fraternal home.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

A chef or cook looking to step away from the fast-paced restaurant environment and into a more calm, peaceful, and mission driven setting with no late nights and smaller dining setting. Someone motivated to join a small kitchen staff to lead the preparation of high-quality meals, oversee kitchen operations, and ensure dietary standards are consistently met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and execute menus that cater to various dietary requirements, including special diets and preferencesLead food preparation and presentation for daily meals, special events, and catering functionsAssist with managing inventory control to ensure the availability of fresh ingredients while minimizing wasteAdhering to sanitation standards, proper handling procedures and food safety standardsCoordinate with nursing to meet nutritional guidelines and resident needsMaintain a clean, organized kitchen environment conducive to high-quality food service

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES

5-7 years full-service institutional/commercial kitchen and cooking experience WI food handler certificate required . Experience with kitchen equipment operation, cleaning, maintenance, and replacement. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to read and follow a recipe.Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and collaborate. Demonstrated self-directed work style with sensitivity and maturity as this is a private home to the Franciscan Friars. Ability to stand, reach, bend, stoop and frequently life up to 40 lb.
