About the Role:

The Sous Chef supports the Culinary Lead in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency across all culinary offerings at Plum Market Food Service Eppley Airfield. This role plays a key part in team development, execution of service, and maintaining compliance with all food safety regulations. The ideal candidate is experienced, hands-on, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences.

What you will do:

  • Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate food preparation to meet quality and service standards.
  • Support the Culinary Lead in daily operations, including prep, production, and execution of menu items.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and airport health regulations.
  • Ensure food is prepared to recipe specifications with consistency and efficiency.
  • Train, mentor, and support culinary team members, fostering a productive and collaborative environment.
  • Monitor kitchen inventory, assist with ordering, and support waste reduction efforts.
  • Contribute to menu development and innovation aligned with Plum Markets culinary goals.
  • Step in to lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Culinary Lead.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment at all times.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 23 years of experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a fast-paced or high-volume kitchen.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional training.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a team-focused mindset.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must pass an airport background check and qualify for airport badging.
  • Experience in airport or travel-related food service settings.
  • ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and food cost control practices.
